Mike Poindexter is a licensed California Private Investigator with over 34 years of hands on experience in the public sector. Mike Honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1974 through 1977. He began his career in Law Enforcement with the California Highway Patrol in 1978. After serving 28 years with the CHP Mike retired in 2006 and went to work for the Alturas Police Department in a reserve capacity.

Mike Poindexter's entire career has been an on the street hands on endeavor. Mike has had the opportunity to receive the best training in the industry from Federal, State, and Local agencies such as; The United States Department of Justice, United States Secret Service, United States Customs, United States Immigration and Naturalization, United States Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Los Angeles Police Department, Department of California Highway Patrol, California Narcotics Officers Association, Western States Information Network and the list goes on.

More importantly Mike has used this training on a daily basis for over 34 years. During his career Mike has been the primary investigator and/or directly involved in hundreds of investigations from Fraud, Petty Theft and simple Vandalism to complex Murder, Rape and Assaults. Mike also has 28 years of experience conducting Accident Investigations with the CHP, from minor fender benders to complex multi-fatal collisions, including staged collisions and commercial vehicle accidents.

Mike Poindexter is a Life Member of the California Narcotics Officers Association CNOA, with over 15 years experience working narcotics. He has testified as an expert in State and Federal Court on numerous occasions. Mike became a certified Drug Recognition Expert in 1984 and has conducted hundreds of Drug Influence examinations over the past 24 years. Mike was also a CHP Canine handler and departmental canine trainer with over ten years experience. He was directly responsible for the training and certification of numerous CHP and allied agency Canine teams in Police Service Patrol/Protection, Narcotics Detection and Explosive Detection.

Mike has been married for over 26 years, and raised four children while enjoying the rural lifestyle that beautiful northern California has to offer. Their three daughters are all College graduates. Mike is very proud of their son, currently serving our great country as a third generation United States Marine. His hobbies include horseback riding, the great outdoors and golf. Mike is also a member of the Western States Livestock Investigators Association WSLIA and is very familiar with the livestock industry.
